Nichole Dechaine
Soprano Nichole Dechaine is currently pursuing MM and DMA degrees in vocal performance at UCSB. She completed her BM in vocal performance at the University of Redlands where she enjoyed performing the roles of Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan tutti, Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro, Julie Jordan in Carousel, and Merab in Handel's Saul. Nichole performed as a soloist with the Redlands Symphony and with the University Chior and Chapel Singers. At UCSB Nichole has played the roles of Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Yan in William Kraft's Red Azalia, and Gianetta in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Gondoliers. Nichole performed Renaissance and Baroque music under the direction of Alejandro Planchart and Greg Maldonado in UCSB's Musica Antiqua. She is a recipient of a Music Affiliates scholarship, the Karl Zytowski scholarship, a Dellar scholarship and has worked as a TA for Elementary Voice for the past three years. Nichole has appeared with the UCSB Orchestra as a concerto competition winner and with the Santa Barbara Symphony as a soloist with the Santa Barbara Choral Society. Nichole enjoys singing at her church (All Saints by the Sea) in Montecito and is looking forward to the last of her doctoral recitals on June 8th in Geiringer Hall at 8pm. In addition to her degree work in voice, Nichole is pursuing an MA in musicology with specific interests in the operas of Ralph Vaughan Williams and in British settings of William Blake's poetry.
