Cory Mathews

Cory Mathews is a PhD candidate in musicology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is currently working on a dissertation about Max Neuhaus: a historical examination of the artist’s early career (1962-1980) with an emphasis on issues of transition. Related research pursuits include American experimental music practices (since 1960) and sound art. Secondary interests include Arvo Pärt, twentieth-century choral music, and music philosophy/aesthetics.

He is also a composer, song writer, and performer (electric bass, guitar, drums, vocals).

When he's not being a musicologist, he's reading philosophy, watching the Simpsons, checking for updates at www.homestarrunner.com, skateboarding, or playing with his family.
